Hi, I'm new to the forums...A little Help Please :0)

I have tried to email someone whose profile says that they live in the same area as me and I keep getting directed to a message that tells me the person I am trying to contact only takes messages from people who live close by!! I do live close by... so I am getting frusterated with it!! Anyone know how to solve this problem and prevent it from happening over and over again???
