Beijing Olympics Volunteer recruitment ends

The volunteer recruitment for the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games closed on March 31, according to a CCTV report. However, the city continues to recruit volunteers.

Currently over one million applications to volunteer in the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games have been received. According to the recruitment procedures, 35,000 applicants, after being tested, interviewed and trained, have been preliminarily accepted. Furthermore, 13,000 of them have already worked in "Good Luck Beijing" test events.

Beijing Olympics volunteers mainly offer assistance in the Olympic competition venues. Their work includes reception and translation services; and providing assistance to spectators.

70,000 volunteers are needed for the Beijing Olympic Games, and 30,000 for the Paralympic Games.
