Why Do You Want A Business?

I ask this question to people who tell me that they want their own business. The reason I ask this question is because I want to find out what motivates people to continue working on their business everyday. I don't know whether you are aware of this, but your reason why is what is going to pull you through the tough times.

Starting a business is going to require a lot of work, so if you don't have a strong why, it will be easy for you to quit. A strong "why" will make it difficult to walk away from your business because a strong "why" is usually something that is attached to a strong emotion.

Another thing is that you why must be something other than money. If your why is just about money, it will be too easy to walk away. You would think that money has a strong emotion, but many people quit one business only to join another because of the promise of making more money. Engaging in this kind of act does more harm than good because it prevents you from learning the skills that one needs to learn in order to build a business. You cannnot have a successful business without first having some business skills in place.

So, I ask all of you, why do you want your own business?
