Why do women ask..."Do I look fat in this?"

I was making a joke in one of the other threads about this subject and it occured to me that I've never asked a man the question...."Do I look fat in this?"

It's just something that never occured to me to ask. I guess it's cuz I really don't care if I look like a cow in something I'm wearing. If people don't like the way I look, they don't have to look at me!

I'm just wondering why women ask that? Ladies, you have any answers for me on that one?
